Last nite was the third time my laptop is acting up since a couple months ago... i dono wats wrong with it, whether it is my keyboard or the printed circuit board (pcb) inside that is spoilt...
it seems the button "n" is unoperable, while when i push the button "b" the alphabet "n" follows afterwards and kept on stuck to it. once every so often, the "n" will pop up all of a sudden, causing all my typing works to be disturbed and launching of programmes with name starting with "n" (like nokia pcsuite and norton antivirus) when i intended to launch another.
for the previous 2 times, i resolved it by banging hard on the keyboard and opening up the bottom part of my laptop (it is a LAPTOP, mind u) blow into it and replace all the screws... for a while it seems to work... however these tricks failed last nite when i did the same.... did it twice, unscrewing and re-screwing everything together... but the problem still refuse to go...
previously i dared not touch the LCD part coz i know nothing of it, and i feared of spoiling it should i dismantled it wrongly, but alas, my anger got the better of me, so i started poking around and pulling along the plastic lines, and voila! i found the way to take it off correctly, albeit accidentally. ah, whatever the heck lah... managed to wriggle off one side but didnt managed to completely take off the side where the connecting wires are attached, so i left it just like that.
from there, the enclosure panel that encapsulates the keyboard came off, and the keyboard is easily taken out. nothing special, just a flat piece of plastics, quite thin, and connected to the motherboard (i assume) via a thin film of cable ribbon. pulled it off and reattached it, assemble everything back together and switched the laptop back on, keeping my fingers crossed hoping the LCD stil works... lol... well it did work... everything came back to life as it is before.
as i said, BEFORE!!!! the problem is stil there!! i was like @$#%#$@ pissed! thats it... switched it off, and use my roomate's pc, since he's out, i'd have the liberation of using his stuffs... as he did mine. tested it again this morning, same problem... finally i said to myself, thats it... money is flying away and i have no choice, else i cant do my work...
called the service centre, requested to buy a spare keyboard and afternoon went to the service centre near klcc to get it. costs rm90 :( but at least it is better than paying rm150 for them to do it and plus rm90 for the keyboard which totals to rm240!!!) since i already found out the way to disassemble and re-assemble it again, better keep the rm150 for myself.
however, one thing that makes me even fired up is, when i reach back home just now, switch the laptop on, the problem is not there anymore... as even now i'm typing this post up, the "n" button works perfectly fine... wat the fart!!?? why couldn't it just behaves properly??? Today's run has costed me rm90 for the new replacement keyboard, rm4 for petrol, missed my lecture today and wasted my time and energy bcoz of this... AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!
so now i'm going out for dinner. i had had enuf and when i come back, i'm gonna make today's effort worthwhile. i'll just replace it no matter what.
moral of the story : sometimes anger will make u do drastic things. but sometimes, ONLY SOMETIMES, those drastic things u do turns out to be the correct thing to do during that hour...
hell, at least now i had an extra skill. instead of just pc repair, i can now do laptop repair, provided that i have the spare parts on hand (which is hard to obtain for laptops...) and some guts and blind faith at my own overconfidence.
this is all for now, let u all know the outcome later, over and out.
